Whether in a steel mill or paper mill, on a racetrack or electrical pole, or battling a fire on the front line, professionals in the world’s most dangerous environments rely on CarbonX® to provide them with the protection they deserve.

By expanding our product portfolio to include CarbonX in 2014, TexTech has strengthened our position and commitment to building a better protective market worldwide.

CarbonX is the only choice where and when safety matters most.

Our teams at TexTech have heard many accounts of injuries in high-heat environments that could have been prevented if the individuals involved had been wearing the right protective gear for the dangers faced.

Constructed to be truly non-flammable using an advanced patented technology, CarbonX fabrics and apparel deliver the highest level of protection against thermal hazards. They will not burn, melt, drip, ignite, shrink, or char when exposed to direct flame or extreme heat; are highly resistant to molten metal splash, flammable liquids, and certain chemicals; and provide excellent protection from arc flash.

The superior performance of CarbonX products can be attributed to a high-performance fiber blend, which is largely comprised of Oxidized Polyacrylonitrile (OPAN) fibers and a variety of strengthening fibers. This patented fiber blend provides an extraordinary level of protection and enables PPE solutions to be optimized for a wide variety of applications in:

  • Industrial safety
  • Steel/welding
  • Fire safety
  • Motorsports
  • Pulp and paper
  • Tactical
  • Utilities
  • Oil and gas
  • Construction

CarbonX combines an extreme level of protection with maximum comfort.

While rated NFPA 70E HRC 2 for their extraordinary protective properties, CarbonX products are lightweight, soft to the touch, and flexible, wearing much like cotton. They also breathe well, wick away moisture, and dry quickly, enhancing the wearer’s comfort and productivity and reducing the potential for fatigue and heat stress. Available in knits, wovens and non-wovens, the CarbonX product line includes:

  • Introducing CarbonX Arc—Defends against arc flash hazards.
  • CarbonX UltimateTM—The highest level of thermal protection.
  • CarbonX ActiveTM—Designed to balance comfort and safety.
  • CarbonX RepelTM—Sheds molten metal, certain chemicals, and flammable liquids like no other fabric.
  • CarbonX Aluminized Solutions—Flexible and lightweight yet still provide superior protection against molten metal and high heat.
  • CarbonX Wovens—Durable and resistant to abrasion.
  • CarbonX Specialty Fabrics—Extra layers of defense.

CarbonX exceeds ASTM, NFPA, and EN standards for flame-resistant PPE.

While competitors work to ensure their products meet industry standards, CarbonX products exceed those standards and go above the norm in providing a persistent thermal barrier with minimal heat conductivity. The industry’s No Melt, No Drip requirements typically only require that protective fabrics not contribute to burns in a thermal exposure, but CarbonX products go beyond this metric and actually protect the wearer from a thermal event.
